Research and Publications

Our engineers and geologists have always taken an active role within the geotechnical community and in the promotion of earth sciences to the general public by taking an active part in geological and science fairs as well as providing fossils and rock specimens for use by local schools.

Our principal engineer Dr Ted Murray was a founder member of the East Midlands Geotechnical Group and helped organised a number of conferences on geotechnical and environment issues. Our engineers and geologists have undertaken numerous research projects as well as authoring and contributing to  published papers, projects and papers have included an accelerated method for permeability testing for the Environment Agency, selection of clays for use in landfill liners and research on ground anchors. 

Members of staff have lectured in soil mechanics at several local universities including the University of Leicester, Nottingham Trent and De Montfort University. As a regular attendee, contributor and key note speaker at national and international conferences Dr Murray has been widely published in both conference proceedings and geotechnical journals. More recently working in collaboration with Dr Sivakumar of Queens University Belfast Dr Murray published a number of books and papers on Unsaturated Soils.
